Job Title: CEIAG Leader; The Deame ALC
Jess Leech has worked in CEIAG for over 10 years, initially through the Aim Higher project. Jess is based at The Dearne ALC, a large 11-16 comprehensive school in the Dearne Valley area of South Yorkshire. A former mining community, the area has been through and is still embarking upon significant regeneration, bringing very real challenges to schools, employment and for young people’s aspirations.
“The school has a strong ethos of aspiration and ambition for young people, and really sees CEIAG as an investment in the future of both the young people of the Dearne, and the community as a whole.”
The school has recently achieved the C&K Careers Quality Award (QiCS validated), and is now leading on developing quality assurance across the Barnsley borough. Jess also works with Barnsley Council as the Barnsley CEIAG Champion, supporting collaborative working, the hugely successful Barnsley I Know I Can (IKIC) brand, and working in partnership with other schools and academies to support high-quality CEIAG. Jess is Chair of the Barnsley CEIAG Coordinators network and sits on a number of local and regional steering groups.
