I have been teaching since 2001. This academic year, I became fascinated with Apprenticeships, wondered why we, in my academy, were not working harder to promote them. Our MAT seems to have a very heavy bias towards University study. I explored this further, attending CPD which resulted in school based activities. In January , when offered an opportunity to take on a whole responsibility, I chose to expand this to the world of work for everyone and I have been completely hooked, reading the latest research as well as understanding how to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks. As a result, I have had a number of events (from DWP and ASK) and I am in the process of organising a week of events in July, including a career fair, as well as organising visits and workshops in the upcoming academic year for all year groups.
