In my previous role I led on Careers & Enterprise for three years at Priestlands School in Lymington, winning the EBP South Amazing People Award “for the school doing the most to promote careers / enterprise & employability” During my time in this role I rewrote all the schemes of work for C&E for Years 9, 10 & 11 along with initiating projects and workshops throughout the school for pupils and staff to have a better knowledge of C&E, this included; Enterprise days, careers talks, college workshops, university talks, LMI workshops and liaison with a variety of professionals.
Since starting with Sovereign a year ago it has been my remit to engage with schools. Housing Associations want to have better engagement with schools and I have been able to help with this, as I have worked in schools for 18 years and understand the stresses and pressures. I am currently working with nine schools supporting them by funding initiatives that link to careers & enterprise that work with the students and their families. The plan is for next to expand this to a wider geography along the South coast which is really exciting.
I am really passionate about educating students about the opportunities around them. To challenge themselves and experience new things that mean when they come to finish Year 11 they have the tools available to them to move forward and make the right decision for themselves. By opening their eyes to the possibilities around careers and enterprise you can support them in reaching their dreams. Helping them identify their own skills and qualities along the way through workshops and inspirational speakers help them to grow and understand what makes them unique.
