Stephen teaches Business Studies and ICT and worked in the private business sector before entering the teaching profession. Careers Information Advice and Guidance and Enterprise Education is a core value of his leadership.
Having recently completed a Masters in Education, he believes passionately in role of research in teaching and learning. Stephen has been at the forefront in developing citywide initiatives on careers, employability and enterprise education, enabling business and education working together to address the skills gap for young people and make them aware of vital enterprise skills. He currently chairs the Be Enterprising group for education practitioners across Hull who wants to ‘Be Enterprising’.
Stephen has been at the forefront of developing The Ready Hub programme takes partnerships of schools (a secondary and its partner primaries) through a process to co-design and deliver a 4-16 enterprise entitlement that the group feels meets the needs of their learners, staff and wider community. The vision and ambition is to help prepare young people from Hull for the opportunities and challenges of life in the 21st century and this programme and collaboration will help us further develop the essential enterprising and entrepreneurial skills and capabilities we aspire to equip young people with.
Teachers and support staff have started working on curriculum development and enterprise pedagogy, in line with the key priorities for the Humber region, including digital, City of Culture, STEM and Enterprising People. This is backed up by the latest research from the OCED Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. This partnership working enables collaboration and sharing of good practice.
The success of CEIAG within our School lies within a great team of people, he maintains he plays a small part in making things happen.
